This is a wonderful place to visit. We have had a membership here and used it liberally. The kids love the hands-on experiences. They have a great planetarium laser show in summers which we all enjoyed. The outdoor area is fantastic for exploring around and burning off energy.

This is a great place to spend an afternoon. I have been here many times with my children and now my grandchildren. If you are local enough, get a pass as it is so well worth it. I have the grandparents + 6. There are great fish tanks, an outdoor walkway with animals, a dinosaur exhibit this summer, play areas indoor and outdoors for children, a planetarium, gardens, a small waterfall.
If you have children you shouldn’t miss this museum.

If you aren’t sure about purchasing a membership, just pay for your daily admission. Then, if you decide you would like unlimited visits, our Admission Desk staff will apply your immediate household’s admission fee to a one year or two year membership! Please note that memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable. Please present ID and digital or physical membership card at Admission Desk each time you visit.
Nanny Policy: Please note policy update
We are able to accommodate nannies by using one of the following options:
An individual membership can be purchased in the nanny’s name. Using this option, the nanny would check-in under his/her membership; then would check the children in under their parent’s membership. This option would allow the nanny to freely visit The Virginia Living Museum with or without the members (children or adults) being present.
The second option is to upgrade the membership level by adding guests. This would allow the nanny to accompany the member (children or adults) by checking in as a guest. This option would require the member adults or the member children to be present during every visit. When using the guest option you do NOT have to name the individuals who will be coming to the museum (meaning this option allows you to accommodate friends, family, and caregivers every time you come).

Support the Museum
Consider adding a donation to your membership. Annual Fund gifts support the daily operations of the Museum providing care of over 250 native species of animals and conservation education programming.
All memberships and gifts enable the Museum to connect people to nature!
Gifts of $250 or more support the Museum’s mission and provide a complimentary family with guests membership and invitations to exciting events. Corporate Partnerships are an important part of our community.
