Celebrate Earth Day
Earth Day April 21
Cost: VLM members free, non-members $20 adults, $15 children (ages 3-12).
The Virginia Living Museum will celebrate Earth Day with special activities for our animals and guests Saturday, April 21. Observe the animals as they receive toys, treats and other enrichment activities to stimulate natural behaviors. Learn ways to help the environment by reducing, reusing and recycling waste. Visit the Goodson Living Green House and Conservation Garden for green building and gardening tips. Several environmental/governmental organizations will have displays and information about conservation measures.
There will also be crafts, eco-friendly giveaways, thousands of native plants for sale and earth-friendly animal shows. Plus, bring your batteries, electronic equipment, old sneakers and plastic bags for recycling.
In support of Earth Day the horticulture staff will hold their annual Spring Native Plant fund-raiser sale April 21-22 and 28-29 in efforts to introduce the gardening public to the incredible variety of native plants that will do well in the landscape and educate gardeners about plants that are better left in the wild. Choose from an array of beautiful and unusual native plants for a variety of garden sites and styles. Many of these are excellent plants for attracting butterflies, hummingbirds and other wildlife to your yard! Click here for more information.
