Homeschool Day

Homeschool days invite homeschoolers and their families for reduced admission and educational programs. Programs are divided by age group and the cost includes museum admission.

Caring for Critters:
Time: 10:00am – 10:45am
Participants: Recommended for ages 6 and up
Every animal in human care deserves to be happy, healthy, well cared for, and provided opportunities to use their natural abilities. Learn how we provide all these things for our animals here at the VLM, and get a chance to make enrichment items for our animals!

Child classroom program and museum admission: $10.50 (M)/$15.00 (NM)
Adult museum admission: Free (M)/$18.00 (NM)

Planetarium show – Legends of the Night’s Sky: Orion
Time: 11:100am – 11:30am
Participants: Recommended for ages 5 and up
Explore the constellations of the night sky with a mom and her two kids, and then hear a retelling of the constellation story of Orion in lasers with Aesop the Owl.

Child planetarium show and museum admission: $10.50 (Member)/$15.00 (Non-Member)
Adult planetarium show and museum admission: Free (Member)/$18.00 (Non-Member)

Rising Change
Time: 1:00pm – 2:30pm
Participants: Recommended for ages 12 and up
The land and oceans we all depend upon are changing fast. Rising sea levels, changes in temperatures, and increasing acidification all threaten our future relationships with the planet. Learn about these growing problems in some hands-on demonstrations, and discuss ways we can make a difference for the future of our world.

Child lab program and admission: $12.50 (M)/$17.00 (NM)
Adult museum admission: Free (M)/$18.00 (NM)
