The Virginia Living Museum offers homeschool programs for all ages (Pre-K through 12) with 45-minute programs.  Read the options below and click the Homeschool Day Ticket button in each program to register.

The Pluto Show

  • Time: 10am-10:45am
  • Participants: Ages 8 and up
  • Description: Why is Pluto no longer considered a planet?  Have we ever been able to explore Pluto?  Learn about the amazing New Horizons mission and what it will teach us about the king of the dwarf planets.
  • Capacity: 71
  • Child classroom program and admission: $10.50 (M)/$15.00 (NM)

Foliage, Fragmentation, and Forests

  • Time: 12pm-1:30pm
  • Participants: Ages 12+
  • Description: Forests are vital to a healthy planet, but these important habitats can be overlooked because they are plentiful in our area. Join us to learn about woodland ecosystems, identifying trees, and forest management.
  • Capacity: 30
  • Child lab program and admission: $12.50 (M)/$17.00 (NM)
    Adult admission: Free (M)/$18.00 (NM)

Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems

  • Time: 2pm-3pm
  • Participants: Ages 11 and up
  • Description: Join us as we explore the scientific process through debate and discussion.  Our question: Is the solar system geocentric, or heliocentric?  We’ll explore Galileo’s most famous work in this interactive program.
  • Capacity: 30
