Are you ready for a “wild” night of spooky animals, trail walks, pumpkin carving, pirates and princesses?

Night of the Living Museum returns to the Virginia Living Museum for its 18th year on Friday, Oct. 20, and Saturday, Oct. 21 from 5:30 to 8:30pm. This is a non-scary Halloween event for families with kids ages 12 and under.

Get your costume ready and come dressed as your favorite character or wild animal.  Trick-or-treat throughout the museum as you walk through themed galleries filled with characters and themed decorations!

Enjoy live animal shows featuring fierce and not-so-fierce Halloween critters and step into a world of “Forest Friends” and “Monster Lab” in transformed indoor exhibits.

Discover the Pumpkin Patch and explore carved jack-o-lanterns. Learn the ways of spiders large and small as well as other creepy crawlies in the lab.

Visit the tooth fairy and other princess favorites in fairyland.  Venture into the cave to seek out pirates and their treats for young trick-or-treaters. Plus, take a nighttime hike along the outdoor boardwalk.

Make creepy crafts and play Halloween games. There will be trick-or-treating for kids throughout the event.

Explore fun science with “Not the Mythbusters” in the Wason Education Center and be sure to look for the large inflatable characters on the garden lawn for that perfect photo op with your Halloween costume!

See the spook-tacular laser show “Fright Light” at 7pm in the Abbitt Planetarium. This is a frightfully awesome mix of terror-ific tunes runs an hour long with wild and weird laser images accompany songs from Black Sabbath, Garbage, The Who and many more! “Fright Light at 8pm” tickets are $3 for VLM members, $6 for non-members in addition to Night of the Living Museum admission. Song selections are family friendly.

You can catch a 30 minute version of “Fright Light”  for $2 for members, $4 for non-members for a shorter laser show experience! Song selections are family friendly.
