Assuming clear weather, views of the planet Mercury crossing the face of the Sun will be shown in the Abbitt Observatory and possibly other locations around the Museum. If possible, a live feed from the observatory will be established in the main building. If weather goes against us, we will attempt to have a live feed from NASA of the transit available in the main building.
The transit or passage of a planet across the face of the Sun is a relatively rare occurrence. There are approximately 13 transits of Mercury each century; the last one was in 2006.
Included in museum admission.
