World Migratory Bird Day highlights the incredible journey of migrating birds and invites everyone to participate in bird conservation efforts.
Activities:
- Bird Beak Game – Guests will explore bird beak adaptations through a hands-on game.
- Native Virginian Bird Scavenger Hunt – Guests can pick up a scavenger hunt form and search through the museum spaces to identify native birds.
- Vulture/ Aviary Birds Talk – Engage guests at our bird exhibits to discuss native bird habitats, how we take care of our birds, and bird conservation.
- DIY Window Clings – Guests can design and create their very own window clings and learn about window strike prevention.
- Bird Conservation/Project FeederWatch Table – View exciting biofacts to learn more about how we can protect these animals.
- Paper Airplane Challenge – Guests can learn about different migratory bird flight patterns and compete to create an airplane that flies that farthest.
- Birds of a Feather- Guests can learn about camouflage in birds when they try to identify as many birds as they can in their native habitats.
- Bird Themed Biofact Tables – Guests will be able to explore a variety of non-live collection items that feature bird migration and anatomy.
