Celebrate the world’s oceans with a day of family activities at the Virginia Living Museum designed to raise awareness of the importance of ocean conservation. See displays of ocean specimens from the Museum’s non-live natural history collections and explore ocean-focus information throughout the galleries. There will also be exhibits about wise seafood choices through the Seafood Watch program and how trash in the oceans affects animal health.
The Sierra Club will be here to highlight important conservation issues that affect ocean ecology, including ocean drilling and marine mammal protection. We will also have a 22’ inflatable Right whale calf for visitors to enjoy and experience the impressive size of a “baby” whale.
Prepare for this special day of conservation and view our many species of fish you can see when you visit on World Oceans Day!
