April 2024 | Spring Native Plant Sale

This year, as we plan for our annual spring plant sale, we do so with heavy hearts as we remember and honor the contributions of Darl Fletcher, beloved VLM Horticulture Curator. In loving memory of Darl, whose passion for plants and dedication to conservation left an indelible mark on our community, this year’s plant sale is dedicated to his legacy.

Member Preview Sale: April 18 | 4-6pm

Public Sale: April 20-21, 27-28 | 9am-4:30pm

Choose from an incredible array of native Virginia plants suitable for a variety of garden sites and styles, from wet ponds to dry rock gardens. Many of these plants are excellent for attracting butterflies, hummingbirds and other wildlife to your yard. Native plants are good choices for area gardeners because such plants tolerate the area’s weather and serve as food and shelter for area wildlife, while also providing a good show in the garden. The annual Native Plant Sale is hosted by the horticulture staff to introduce the gardening public to the incredible variety of native plants.

The sale will be held in the Virginia Living Museum’s Conservation Garden. Admission to the plant sale is free of charge. The Museum’s knowledgeable horticulture staff will be on hand to answer your questions, discuss the benefits of native plants, and help with any particular gardening situations. All plants are nursery propagated; many are not yet available in the commercial nursery trade.
