Fill the Canoe 2021

For the month of November as a gesture of thanks and giving, the Museum will be doing our annual “Fill the Canoe” with non-perishable food items to benefit the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank.

Please bring your non-perishable food items from November 5th through November 30th. The canoe is located in the Museum lobby to the right of the guest services desk.

Deer Feeding

At 11am-11:15am every day*, the Museum will be feeding the deer on the outdoor trail. Included in general admission/membership.

Otter Feeding

At 1:00pm-1:15pm every day*, the Museum will be feeding the otters on the outdoor trail. Included in general admission/membership.

Oyster Roast 2021

Enjoy all-you-can-eat fresh local Virginia oysters, fried seafood, chowder, dessert buffet, craft beers, wine, full bar, DJ/live music, commemorative glass, raffles & more at the Virginia Living Museum’s 9th annual Oyster Roast! Voted Best of the 757 Gold for Outdoor Festivals, this event is always a sell-out and will be held rain or shine.

Aviary Feeding

At 3:30pm-3:45pm every day*, the Museum will be feeding the coastal birds on the outdoor trail. Included in general admission/membership.

Stargazing & Laser Light Night | Nov. 13

Stargazing

The Virginia Living Museum offers free stargazing beginning at sunset on the second Saturday of every month. Stargazing is weather dependent. Several telescopes are set up on the grounds and staff astronomers are available to help visitors identify objects in the night sky.

While looking through the telescope, guests are required to wear a mask. 

Laser Nights

Looking for some Saturday night fun? Start with a planetarium program. Then experience a sensory extravaganza as laser shows provide music to both the eyes and ears every second Saturday of the month. The museum has an incredible laser system that splashes brilliant high-color LED laser light all across the entire surface of the dome. It’s the most amazing light show you’ve ever seen! Plus, there’s music to suit every taste. Different bands are featured every month.

NOTE: Shows are $3 for VLM members, $6 for non-members.
