Events of the Day:
Ongoing Collections tours – Explore all the amazing artifacts the Museum has to explore Virginia’s natural resources.
Fossil Preparation 101 – Select a fossil to prepare and identify.
Virginia’s Climate Past – Learn about Virginia’s past as you explore a variety of fossils including Virginia’s state fossil.
Fossil Dig – Search for fossil shark teeth, corals, and other marine animals that lived millions of years ago.
Meet A Mastodon – Interact with mastodon fossils and replicas while learning about their ecology and ecosystem during Virginia’s Ice Age.
Fossil Identification – Do you have something you think could be a fossil? Bring it in and have it identified.

October 12: Stargazing NightCost: Members $5, non-members $8 per show. Virginia Skies A live guided tour of the current evening sky with a staff astronomer. Recommended for all ages.
Laser Magic Time: 7:00pm This program offers a magical mix of music, from those you love to those you have forgotten, all presented in concert with stunning laser images! This musical compilation is fun for the entire family and includes artists like Joan Jett, The B-52’s, Will Smith, The Blackhearts and much more. It’s musical fun for the whole family! This program is family-friendly: Inappropriate song lyrics have been eliminated or blanked.
Laser Rock Time: 8:30pm A mix of legendary giants of Rock and Roll! Show Playlist
Dark Side of the Moon Time: 10pm Recommended: ages 15 and above From the very beginning of lasers, this album has represented the ultimate in laser show experiences. And it’s still true today. Join us for the seminal laser show experience with one of the most incredible albums of all time. Considered by many critics to be the album that brought the commercial breakthrough to Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon offers a mixture of psychedelic, rock and jazz sounds. Its sonic backdrops and atmospheric soundscapes combined with a unique assortment of sound effects yield an emotional resonance. When accompanied by a diverse and unusual display of laser art, the overall feel is a dramatic and haunting atmosphere. Some of these songs contain lyrics some parents may find objectionable. Please be aware that volume levels during our Pink Floyd program will be high and the imagery can be intense. Show Playlist
