Fire Pink

Silene virginica

Height: 6-18 inches
Light: Sun to partial shade
Soil: Dry to moderately moist, well-drained soil
Bloom Time: April – June
Flower Color: Red
Foliage: Green

Vibrant fire-engine red, Fire Pink blooms from spring to early summer. Related to carnations, the ‘pink’ in the name refers to the notch in each petal.

Although it will grow in full sun, partial sun is preferred. Fire Pink prefers poor soil containing too much sand, clay or rocky material. They are very tolerant of drought and attract hummingbirds, large butterflies and neighbors!
