Brad Patten elected president of Board of Trustees

Virginia Living Museum Announces New President of  Board of Trustees and other Assignments for 2017-18

 

 

Bradford “Brad” N. Patten was elected president of the Virginia Living Museum (VLM) Board of Trustees for 2017-18 at the Virginia Living Museum Annual Meeting held on June 14, 2017. Patten is President of Alcove Corporation, Williamsburg and will begin the new appointment on July 1.

Patten received his BA from the University of Richmond and his MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University. In 2007, Patten moved to Williamsburg to manage the Alcove Corporation.  This family business invests in development, diversified real estate holding, stocks, bonds, and small businesses.

Active in many organizations around Hampton Roads, Patten has served on the VLM’s Board of Trustees since 2013. From July 2016 to June 2017, Patten served as the president-elect and strategic planning chair of the VLM Board. In addition, he served on the Museum’s 50th Anniversary Steering Committee. Patten’s past board leadership service includes trustee at the Hampton Roads Academy, Agape board at the Williamsburg Community Chapel, and board of directors for several commercial condominium associations. Patten and his wife, Stacy, an attorney, reside in Williamsburg with their three children.

Other elections made at the June 14 Annual Meeting were James C. Burnett, controller W.M. Jordan Company, Inc., president-elect. Mark C. Hanna, executive vice president/Tidewater regional president, EVB, was elected treasurer. Karen Velkey, corporate vice president of compensation and benefits with Huntington Ingalls Industries, was elected secretary. Alonzo R. Bell, Jr., principal broker with Randolph Real Estate Services, Inc., will now serve on the executive committee as past president.

 

Re-elected to the Board of Trustees are Tommy A. Garner, president, Tommy Garner Heating and Air Conditioning and Britney H. Maddux, CEO, Omni Title and Escrow, LLC.

 

Appointed to new one-year term as a representative on the Board Trustees is Susan M. Goodwin, City of Newport News.

 

Re-appointed to the Board as Representatives are:

  • Lorraine Hall, Junior League of Hampton Roads
  • Shelly Simonds, Newport News Public Schools
  • Laura Fitzpatrick, City of Hampton
  • Charles C. Yost, Warwick Rotary Club
