Community Keepers

Make your community official honorary keepers of an animal at the Virginia Living Museum!

The VLM is excited to announce the expansion of our Adopt a Wild Thing program to include Adopt a Wild Thing: Community Keepers! As a wild thing adopter, you are directly supporting the care of your chosen animal, helping to pay for food, shelter, and enrichment. By adopting for your school, classroom, or other organization each participant can feel like they are making a conservation impact.

From schools and classrooms to senior centers and residential communities, we welcome those of all ages looking to learn!

In our top Adopt a Wild Thing package, you will receive a plush toy of the animal you adopted, Keepers Notes created by our expert curators that can be used as an educational tool, and a certificate making your community official keepers! As part of our Community Keepers program, you will also receive an animal bookmark for each of your participants, an electronic copy of the Keepers Notes and certificate, and most excitingly, quarterly email updates on your adopted animal telling you about recent enrichment activities and behavioral trainings they’ve done, with pictures of them attached that can be shared with your adopters!

Together we can inspire the next generation of scientists, doctors, educators, and nature enthusiasts, creating a brighter future for the community!

The Virginia Living Museum is a public non-profit 501(c)(3) organization (54-6055922). All memberships, donations and gifts enable us to operate each year. Museum financial information is available by written request to the Virginia Office of Charitable and Regulatory Programs.
