The Chesapeake Bay is an estuary stretching 180 miles, from southernmost Virginia to northernmost Maryland. The Bay is a tidal area where fresh water and ocean water meet. It is the largest estuary in the United States and the heart of an astonishingly beautiful, productive and diverse natural environment.
