When the sun goes down, the night sky lights up at the Virginia Living Museum. Join us after hours for free outdoor stargazing (weather permitting) and an unforgettable lineup of planetarium and laser shows. Whether you’re here to explore the constellations or rock out to a sky-synced soundtrack, there’s something for everyone.
Stargazing
As the sky darkens, our astronomy team will guide you through Virginia’s night sky. Look for planets, star clusters, and seasonal constellations from our observation areas.
Telescopes: Abbitt Observatory or Conservation Garden, depending on the weather forecast.
Observing is free and open to all event attendees.

6:00 PM – The Sky Tonight
A live guided tour of the current evening sky with a staff astronomer.
7:00 PM – Freedom
A patriotic laser light experience featuring iconic American music and dazzling laser imagery.
8:30 PM – Laser Zeppelin
Classic Led Zeppelin hits paired with immersive laser visuals under the planetarium dome.
10:00 PM – Pink Floyd’s The Wall
Selections from the legendary Pink Floyd double album presented with stunning laser effects.
