On the “Endangered” list in several states, Purple Milkweed is easy to grow, tolerating a range of soil and light conditions.
It adds an unusual accent to garden beds with its large, attractive rose-purple flowers and long seed pods. Although Purple Milkweed tolerates shady spots, it flowers better in sun.
A host plant for Monarch butterflies, it is also a nectar source for bees, butterflies and early hummingbirds.
