Bird of Prey Tour

Step behind the scenes for an unforgettable encounter with some of the Virginia Living Museum’s most incredible avian ambassadors. Join our expert animal care staff for an exclusive look at the daily care, training, and conservation of our resident birds of prey.

Your experience begins with a behind-the-scenes visit to our Commissary, where many of our animals’ specialized diets are prepared. Learn how nutrition, enrichment, and positive reinforcement training help keep our raptors healthy and engaged.

Next, you’ll meet one of our bird keepers and discover the fascinating natural history of the hawks, owls, falcons, vultures, and other raptors that call the Virginia Living Museum home. You’ll also hear the unique rescue stories and personalities of the individual birds in our care.

The highlight of your encounter takes you inside our Flight Enclosure, where you’ll enjoy an up-close look at how our birds are trained for daily care and educational programs. You’ll even have the opportunity to take a memorable photo beside one of our magnificent birds of prey while learning about the important role these animals play in inspiring conservation.
