- All-day Museum admission for up to 30 guests, this includes members and non-members. Children aged 2 and under are not included in the count.

Animal Ambassador Encounter

We cannot guarantee specific ambassadors. The ambassador animals for each party will be chosen based
on animal health, welfare, and use guidelines set by the Virginia Living Museum.
Example Birthday Schedule
There are two slots a day allotted for parties, a morning one starting at 9:30 and the afternoon slot starting at 1.
Morning Party
9:30 AM Arrive and decorate
10:00 AM Cake, food, and celebration
12:00 PM Packed, cleaned, and all guests exit party room
Afternoon Party
1:00 PM Arrive and decorate
1:30 PM Cake, food, and celebration
3:30 PM Packed, cleaned, and all guests exit party room
All Animal Encounters take place during your party room time.
Guided tours and planetarium shows are scheduled either before or after, depending on availability.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I bring?
- All food, ice, beverages, paper products and utensils.
- Food can be delivered to the Museum, the front desk just needs to be made aware.
- Decorations that can be hung up with painters tape, table decorations, table cloths.
- Games, activities, etc to do in the party room.
What can I NOT bring?
- Please do NOT bring piñatas, glitter, confetti, silly string, poppers, stickers, stick-on vinyls, or any other items that may create a mess in the party room or damage the furniture.
- Balloons are NOT allowed inside the Museum for the health and safety of our animals.
- NO alcohol.
Will there be a refrigerator?
No refrigeration or freezer facilities are available.
What happens if I need to cancel?
- A $50 cancellation fee will apply if your event is cancelled a week before the scheduled party date.
- 50% of the total party cost will be applied if cancelled within a week of the scheduled party date.
How do I reschedule?
- You’re welcome to reschedule your party to an available date and time without incurring any additional fees.
- One week prior notice is requested for date changes.
- Rescheduled events are no longer eligible for refunds.

Can I invite more than 30 guests?
- The Museum admission is for up to 30 guests, this includes members and non-members. Children aged 2 and under are not included in the count.
- Additional guests will be $15 each, and you are only allowed up to 10 additional guests.
- The maximum room capacity is 40 people.
Are tours included?
- There are no tours or animal encounters included.
- If you would like to add-on a Guided Tour, please refer to our Add-ons.

Booking your birthday party is easy:
- Complete the online reservation request form.
- A member of our Reservations team will contact you to confirm availability and finalize your details.
- Payment is due at the time of booking to secure your reservation.

Reservations may be changed or canceled up to seven days before the party date for a $50 service fee.
Cancellations made within seven days of the event are eligible for a 50% refund.
