Wild Explorations

Touch, climb, and explore Virginia’s wild wonders as hands-on discovery transforms with every season!

Wild Explorations is designed to spark curiosity, movement, and imagination in young explorers. Created with children and families in mind, this immersive exhibit invites guests to engage with hands-on elements inspired by Virginia’s seasons and natural landscapes.

At the heart of the space is a large seasonal tree, surrounded by interactive features like mushroom toadstools.

Spring Blooms Arrive

Beginning Friday, April 3, the tree shifts into spring with fresh lime greens, budding flowers, and lighter, brighter touches inspired by new growth.

Summer Comes to Life

On Friday, May 22, the summer transformation is complete, featuring deeper greens, brighter light, and full blooms that capture the height of the season.

Interactives

Move around the room and notice cocoon pod tents, a rock wall that encourages climbing, building, and creative learning through play.
