New Lead Veterinarian joins ranks at the Virginia Living Museum


Newport News, VA (November 21, 2017) – Brianne Phillips, DVM, joins the staff as a lead veterinarian this Fall. Dr. Phillips is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and has recently completed a three-year residency with the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  Her intensive residency included clinical rotations with the North Carolina Aquariums, Zoo, Wildlife RehabilitationCenter, and Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center as well as rotations at the Museum of Natural Sciences.

Her clinical experience included many AZA accredited facilities.  Dr. Phillips is an accomplished teacher, research scientist, and speaker.

“Brianne’s accomplishments and collaborations will contribute greatly  to the Museum’s conservation mission.  Her passion for animal health, welfare and research is very exciting.” said Rebecca Kleinhample, Executive Director of the Virginia Living Museum.

Dr. Phillips will join the Curatorial team on a part-time basis as the Lead Veterinarian.  She will work directly with Museum staff and   a team of local veterinary specialists who support the care of the Museum’s extremely diverse animal population.

Heads Up!

The Virginia Living Museum will open at 11AM to the public today to allow staff to get operations up and running after extensive power loss last night.

This will NOT interfere with regular summer camp operations, camp will begin at 9AM.
