Connect, learn and lift your spirits on VLM social media platforms while at home

Newport News, Va. (March 19, 2020) –Education soars at the Virginia Living Museum with new Natural Education – virtual learning programs that keep Virginia residents of all ages engaged and informed!

Join Virginia Living Museum educators and animal welfare and conservation staff on the Museum’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts daily. Engaging lessons, animal ambassadors, adventure challenges and LIVE feedings and activities will be showcased. New content will provide engaging natural science lessons. Begin living your day with Natural Education at 8am and finish by putting your child to bed with a bedtime story!

Visit virtually across social media platforms! This daily schedule will keep your active learners engaged:

• 8am | Diet of the Day – Sink your teeth into what our animals eat, what their diet consists of & other animal facts! Visit Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
• 10am | Awesome Animal Ambassadors – Experience a daily encounter with a VLM ambassador animal presented by our expert staff! Visit Facebook.
• 11am | VLM Facebook LIVE – fish and animal feedings and enrichment.
• 12pm | Nature at Noon – Learn about something you can find in your own backyard. Visit Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
• 2pm | Social Picks – Topics most popular on social media. Visit Facebook, Instagram or Twitter (days vary).

o   Monday | Who Knows? Bo Knows Mammals – See a special ambassador animal.

o   Tuesday | Twitter Chat – Ask us your science questions. It’s a twitter takeover!

o   Wednesday | Weird & Wild – Odd animal facts that are strange but true!

o   Thursday | Outdoor Adventure – Join an educator for an activity you can do outside.

o   Friday | Science Friday – Discover a science experiment to do at home.

o   Saturday | Living Green Sustainably – Think like a conservationist and learn to conserve.

o   Sunday | Starry Stories – All about Astronomy: constellations, myths, & legends.

• 2:30pm | VLM Facebook LIVE – fish and animal feedings and enrichment.
• 4pm | VLM Mysteries – What is it? Identify the photo and give it your best guess. It could be an animal nose, a fluffy tail or an item from our amazing collections. Solve the mystery yourself and find out if you are correct the next day! Visit Instagram
• 6pm | Virginia Skies – Discover the night sky every evening. We will stargaze with you and teach other stellar facts! Visit Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
• 8pm | Night Night Nature – Join us for a bedtime story! Targeted to sleepyheads age 5 and under, let us put your little critter to bed. Visit Facebook
