Evening Walk along Outdoor Trail offers Illuminated Holiday Experience

 

Newport News, VA (November 23, 2020) – This holiday, the Virginia Living Museum opens the outdoor trail and Dinosaur Discovery Trail bedazzled in decorative lights and holiday cheer during Nature Night Holiday Lights. On sixteen select nights (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday) from November 27, 2020 to January 2, 2021 the evening event will bring a social distancing night walk from 5:30-8:30pm. The illuminated evening walks are sponsored by National Exterminating. In addition, on select nights, the Abbitt Planetarium will open to showcase the traditional holiday themed planetarium show Mystery of the Christmas Star and the popular Laser Holidays which pairs holiday tunes to a laser light show.

The new Nature Nights Holiday Lights experience is right in time for the holidays allowing families to walk in nature along the outdoor trail at night with holiday lights guiding the way. The walk is sure to put families in the holiday spirit with guests given a candy cane treat, cookies and cocoa.

Available for purchase will be light-up toys and wearables (credit card only).  All COVID-19 regulations will be in place, including social distancing and one-way traffic. There will be no access to indoor exhibits, but mask wearing is required.

Timed tickets forNature Nights Holiday Lights are now on sale at a cost of $9 for VLM members and $12 non-members. Limited tickets are available for the following 2020 dates:  November 27, 28 and 29. December 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 20, 26, 27 and also January 2, 2021.

In addition, the Abbitt Planetarium show Mystery of the Christmas Star will be shown at 6:30pmand/or Laser Holidays at 8pm for an additional $3 each forVLM members and $6 each for non-members. The Mystery of the Christmas Star story takes viewers on a journey with the magi and the attempt to discover the identity of the Star of Bethlehem! The Laser Holidays show is a holiday celebration in music and lasers. Both shows will have limited seating (20 seats) on November 27, and 28, December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, and 19, 2020.

 The Museum is closed Thanksgiving Day, November 26, and Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day, December 24 and 25 and New Years Day, January 1, 2021.
