Annual James River Striped Bass Tournament benefits Conservation and Education

The 19th Annual James River Striped Bass Tournament was held on Saturday, November 9, 2019. A total of $20,000 was donated to the Virginia Living Museum and will benefit education and conservation programs and projects.

The donation was presented to the Virginia Living Museum at the Captains Party held at the Deep Creek Landing Marina in Newport News on Friday, November 8, 2019.  The James River Striped Bass Fishing Tournament is coordinated by Randy Abbitt (of National Exterminating Company Inc.) and his daughter, Jessica Godfrey. The proceeds will benefit the Museum’s education programs, animal care, exhibits and conservation projects.

The event sponsor was Kaz Vision Laser Center.

The Virginia Living Museum will open at 11AM to the public today to allow staff to get operations up and running after extensive power loss last night.

This will NOT interfere with regular summer camp operations, camp will begin at 9AM.
