This is a great place to spend an afternoon. I have been here many times with my children and now my grandchildren. If you are local enough, get a pass as it is so well worth it. I have the grandparents + 6. There are great fish tanks, an outdoor walkway with animals, a dinosaur exhibit this summer, play areas indoor and outdoors for children, a planetarium, gardens, a small waterfall. If you have children you shouldn’t miss this museum.

This is a wonderful place to visit. We have had a membership here and used it liberally. The kids love the hands-on experiences. They have a great planetarium laser show in summers which we all enjoyed. The outdoor area is fantastic for exploring around and burning off energy.

Our add-ons allow you to bring a different guest with you anytime you visit the museum. Great for bringing a friend, babysitter, neighbor, or more. Consider a 2-year membership for extra savings!

Ticket times reflect the arrival time only; members and guests may stay at the museum for as long as they like until closing.

Please note: Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied at all times by an adult guardian 18 or older.
Membership Discounts
Military:As a thank you to active duty military and retired, the Virginia Living Museum offers a $15 savings on any level of general membership.
Seniors (+65) and college students:also receive a $15 discount on any level of general membership, but must show a valid photo ID.
Corporate Sponsor Employees: We are proud to offer employees of the following generous corporate sponsors a $5 discount on memberships: Ferguson/Wolseley, Newport News Shipbuilding, Riverside. Please present staff ID for discount.
Only one discount applies when purchasing a membership. Discounts can only be applied for in-person purchases. Discounts do not apply to any guest add-ons.
Support the Museum
Consider adding a donation to your membership. Annual Fund gifts support the daily operations of the Museum providing care of over 350 native species of animals and plants and conservation education programming.
All memberships and gifts enable the Museum to connect people to nature!
Gifts of $250 or more support the Museum’s mission and provide a complimentary family with guests membership and invitations to exciting events. Corporate Partnerships are an important part of our community.
