Groundhog to make Annual Weather and Super Bowl Predictions Feb. 2

Newport News, VA (January 31, 2019) – The Virginia Living Museum’s will celebrate the 9th annual groundhog weather prediction on Saturday, February 2 from 2 to 2:30 pm at the Museum’s outdoor amphitheater. WAVY-TV Meteorologist Jeremy Wheeler will be on hand to assist in the annual ceremony. The groundhog will also predict this years Super Bowl champs!In tradition of Punxsutawney Phil, the VLM Groundhog will foretell the Hampton Roads prolonged winter or early spring forecast. The Virginia Living Museum groundhog is the official forecaster of weather in Hampton Roads and has been predicting the weather since 2011.Members of the Newport News Council and others will join Jeremy Wheeler and VLM Curatorial Director George Mathews Jr. to form the “inner circle” assisting in the ceremony. Members of our Board of Trustees, and a host of other guests and visitors will pack the outdoor amphitheater to cheer on the Virginia Living Museum’s groundhog. Pats or Rams? Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite team gear.Both predictions are included in general museum admission. The museum is located at 524 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News, I-64, exit 258A.
